Hello everyone,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I started nursing school last august. I am scheduled to graduate in May. I've been having Back pain since january. It only hurt when I would sit down. However, it got worse and worse. It got so bad I couldnt even sit through class without being in pain. I would do all my studying laying down. Well over the summer the pain got worse it traveled into my buttock. I am not one of those people who have a low tolerance to pain. I did karate for 9 yrs so its not me to whine easy from pain. Anyhow over the summer the pain got worse even with medication I can comfortably even eat dinner at the table. The dr said I have sacroillitis. I was also told that my pelvis is rotated anterior and thats the whole problem. So I started physical therapy.
Question is should i take this semester off and get back on track physically. It would only set me back 3 months. I just feel like i havent even had a mental break cause i was in a lot of pain this summer. I couldnt relax. I just dont know. Nursing school is stressful enough without having this problem

If you can afford to, I would take the time off to focus on PT and recovery.
Back injuries, left untreated, have a tendency to become more severe over time - particularly in a field which demands so much of them (the backs) as does nursing.
Get your back back into shape... your entire nursing career depends upon it.
