Skill test is just as the name implies you will be asked to preform simple nursing assistant tasks such as washing your hands, measuring Intake and Output, turning a patient, performing a linen change, etc. As long as you are confident in your ability to perform the tasks you will do just fine.

:wink2:

Here's a link for CNA testing in California. If you click on the candidate handbook link, they discuss the different types of skills you're expected to know. Good luck!

I did this last May and it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier than they make it out to be. If you're doing the redcross test, the ladies who administer the skills portion are very very helpful.

You chose at random 4 skills to perform including handwashing. When I took the test we were grouped into partners in order to mock perform the skills on each other. This is advantageous because your partner may be able to help you out a little or give you funny looks or blink alot if you're leaving something out. Also, the test administrators were two very nice older ladies who will ask you specific questions to help you get back on track if you need it, like lets say you missed a step in a skill they would say "Okay, remind me what you would you do before you did this" or so on.

The written test is mostly common sense. It wasn't anything we could have studied for, you either know it or you don't. But don't worry someone who never received and CNA training could pass.

Hope this cleared some things up for you.

I just passed the mass cna exam yesterday...It was the easiest exam ever...the skills portion we had 3 chosen for us I got hand washing: take a pulse and rom upper right extremity..cake
