A little history I am attending Miami-Jacobs in Ohio for my LPN. I have 22 weeks left to go and I have worked so hard and gave up so much for this dream. Today there is an article in the newspaper saying that my school's conditional approval with the Ohio Board of Nursing is in trouble. I guess, from what I understand, my school had conditional approval granted in 09/2006 in 09/2007 the BON came in and reviewed the school and found that some changes needed to be made before we could be approved for Full approval so the BON and my school entered into an agreement that these changes would be made and monthly reports would be given to the BON on the changes. Then in 03/2009 the BON is scheduled to come back and give final say if my school will be granted Full approval. Okay here is where the dilema comes in. In the newspaper article it said that students would not be able to take the NCLEX-PN until approval had been granted. We have one class graduate and take the NCLEX under the conditional approval. But basically what I am unable to get answer from anyone:banghead: about is will I be able to sit for boards when I graduate in October of 08? What do you all think? Let me know if more if is needed. Thanks in advance!

Call the board. they will have your answer, but i will bet that you are allowed to take the boards. One of the things that boards look at for schools approval is the passing rates of it's graduates. Also in Houston, I know of several schools that were conditioonal apporbval and their students are allowed to take the NCLEX.
That was my plan for tomorrow...actually I tried today but I missed them by 5 mins! Go figure! lol One thing that made since to me was the fact that the school is not allowed to bring in other nursing students in as of when they entered into the agreement. That made me think that they would let us finish and sit for our boards. Do you think that I will have to wait to take my boards until March 09?

How stressfull!!! Sorry that you have to go through this... It will all work out... Keep the faith!!!!!!!!!! YOu do need concrete answers though in order to continue with school with a clear head. good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:redbeathe:nurse:
I wanted to thank you all for your responses. I called the Board of Nursing and a very nice woman explained everything to me and told me that everything that was going on will NOT affect those of us already involved in the nursing program. Then Monday in class our director came in and cleared everything up. Bascially it got blown up...no big suprise! I am very relieved and ready to move forward!
