Please advise.......

Hi everyone!! My name is Maria...i am a 32yr old mother of two boys 7&11 and im currently unemployed. Ive been in dead end job after dead end job since high school doing my best, against all adversity, to support my children. I have finally hit a crossroads! I will admit....nursing was not someting i would say "runs through my veins", I didnt dream of becoming a nurse. I was always very confused about what i wanted to be when i "grew up" and i waited 32 yrs for that "calling".....well it never came. One thing i did know for sure was that i wanted a job that would make me feel good when I went home. I wanted to do something that had meaning and purpose and that i would hopefully be remembered for.....not rewarded or celebrated....but remembered and appreciated....preferably privately. I would watch Extreme Home Makeover or Secret Millionaire and secretly wish that i were the one handing over that check....or the keys to that house. Then I remembered....i was broke :lol2: So I thought....for a very long time....and it came to me! Nursing!!! I can be a NURSE! So here I am!! LOL i know its not a deep story and my discovery was a little unconventional...but its all i can think about now. I have to say...this is a long and confusing process and I dont know where to start?? I did a little research into Monroe and Mildred Elley,I am very nervous about choosing the right school and the proper program. I just wanna take off running but im not sure which way LOL If anyone can give me any feedback at all the time u spend replying will be hugely appreciated!!

P.S. Im ultimately interested in Labor & Delivery, OB/GYN

First things first -- go talk to admissions counselors at the nursing schools. They can provide you with a 'roadmap' that can answer your questions.
