Picking a specialty

I was asked to pick a specialty training area so that I have a seat after my first 12 months in med/surg. I am looking for any advice. Is one area any more 'deployable' than another (ex. ER vs CC). I am wanting to be a Nurse Practitioner; is one better than the other to sign up for? Any advice would be great!

well i hope someone posts a reply because i have the same question. i did see a break down of deployments for the nursing field a few months ago. at the time i did not really pay that much attention because i was still a student. i did notice that nurse anesthetist was up there as was critical care and med surg. i was interested in labor/delivery and that was not on there list at all.

I found when picking your specialty you have four choices: CC, L&D, psych, and OR. I was worried between ER nursing and CC nursing. I guess ER nursing is a specialty down the road.
