Picking RN program in NH

Published

I am new to NH and am applying for RN programs and am trying to make the best choice. I live in Hampton but would ultimately like to work at Elliot as an ER RN, I was a Paramedic in FL before coming here and not currently praticing. I'm wondering if I should just go to GBCC in Stratham, or would there be a big advantage for me if i went to Manchester Community College to do the clinicals at Elliot and meet people?? Just curious if anyone that maybe works at Elliot or knows how that works around here?

Also, does anyone know of any scholarships or any hospitals in the area that do tuition reimbursment?

Thanks!!!

i work as an LNA at exeter hospital and they offer tuition reimbursement. i have been trying to get into great bay's rn program and i have almost all of the prereqs done, just microbiology and human growth & development left. i would say if you want to work at the eliot you should look at manchester community college.

Thanks for the advice. That's kind of what I was thinking about Elliott. I have applied to Great Bay, NHTI and Manchester CC and am pretty confident I should be accepted to all. I live in Hampton right now so I really dont want to commute too far but I want to do clinicals at a hospital where I want to work once graduating.

How do you like working at Exeter? I would really like to get a job at a hospital around here but only have my FL paramedic license and EMT which doesn't do me much good up here.

Good luck with your prerequisites and thanks again!!

No matter where you decide to go you might want to look into an externship program between your freshman and senior year during the summer. I know CMC has one, but I am not too sure about the others. You can call and ask the Elliot and no matter where you end up going to school, maybe you can apply for an externship there, if they are offering one. I heard that is actually a good way to make an impression on them for future employment.

UNH sets up clinicals with Elliot. My first rotation this semester is at Elliot. :-)

I am there, too. :)
