Physiology - HELP

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi Everyone-

I'm really struggling with physiology. Everything else I've done has been so easy for me including microbiology and I'm just hitting a wall with phsyio. I think part of it is burn out and the other part is I'm not sure. I'm just really not understanding the material.

I'll take ANY advice and resources on how you learned the subject.

Thanks,

Sarah

What are you having trouble with exactly?

I made an A and these are things I used to study:

Reviews & Rationales - Anatomy and Physiology. This book is amazing in that it really breaks concepts down a bit better than some textbooks. I also read my book, but this was a nice supplement.

I made lots of charts, diagrams, pictures, color-coding pertinent info.

I youtubed anything I didn't understand. Khanacademymedicine has some excellent videos for physiology.

I am a very visual learner so these two things worked for me. You have to find what works for you! If there are particular concepts you are struggling with, I can give you more specific advice.

I agree with meeep. Khan academy has some of the best youtube videos for physiology. Whenever I didn't understand a concept very well I would just search on youtube. Usually the videos on there were very helpful.

Yes, maybe your could tell us what you are having problems with exactly. I am taking Advanced physiology right now. We have done synapses and muscle contractions along with membrane dynamics so far. I took A&P I and II and got As in both and have a 96 in phys class right now. So if you are having trouble with something you can message me and maybe I can help.

Thanks everyone! I'm really struggling with simplifying the sodium potassium pumps and calcium pumps that come up over and over. So far we've done urinary and now we are on to nervous system. I downloaded the notes from the sticky on the forum and that's been helpful but any sort of simple breakdown, notes in words that aren't our textbook would be helpful. Our teacher teaches using all the textbook tools and all of us find the textbook to be wordy and difficult to understand.

Even just sending this note and asking for help sort of galvanized me to look for extra resources on youtube etc.

@Keathermaizey - I can't send messages yet or I would totally message you! I have to get up to 15 posts. Working on it.

Thanks again.

Ah yes, the sodium/potassium and calcium pumps. I never realized how much our bodies use these items until I started taking physiology. Everyone things calcium keeps our bones strong and that's all it is for. Our bones just store calcium until our neurons need it. When you get up to 15 posts message me and I think I can help. I'm kinda getting a better grasp on it. LOL.
