physical requirements

I work in IT (computers) and I'm applying for a job at a major hospital in the SF Bay Area. I have to take a physical to get hired. I am legally blind in one eye. I can see shapes and colors but I can't read with this one bad eye. Will this cost me the job at at hospital? Remember, I work in IT so I'd never see or touch a person, only keyboards.

Well whats the position ?

The American Disability Act should prevent you from being disqualified for a position because of your condition. Of course you have to be able to successfully carry out the duties of the position as well.

For instance if I applied for a nursing job that states that I must be capable of lifting 50 pounds, and i cannot do so (due to a disability) then I believe that not hiring me wouldnt be discriminatory.

Of course im no expert on the ADA
