Phone interview HELP!!

Hi ladies and gentlemen~~

I have just got an invite to do a phone screening interview with Northwell health system. This is my second time. I failed the first time and now i am so so excited that i get a second chance for a different position. BUT i am very very nervous. I became a RN since 2009 but never worked in hospital and only started working in nursing since 2017 Sep. Before that i was working in a pediatric clinic, so to be honest I have very little bedside experience. Thats why I do not have much confident to do the interview. Can anyone give me some advice and what quality are they looking for from the phone interview. THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance.

Phone interviews are generally just checking to see if you are who your resume says you are. They will review your work experience, ask you a few "Tell me about a time...." type questions and ask you if you have any questions. Mostly they are listening to see if you are articulate, able to communicate and if your experience matches up with the position. If you have questions about time off, pay etc you should save those until you are offered a job. Research the hospital and the specialty you are applying for, put a smile in your voice and be conversational. That is usually all the telephone interview requires. I doubt you "failed" your last phone interview if you are getting another shot. More likely they forwarded your application to the manager of whatever unit it was and they already had someone in mind, so did not take you to the next level.

Good luck!

When I have any interviews, I always create a word document and look up online the basic kinds of questions that they might ask you. Like not.done.yet said above, they usually ask you for specific experiences, like "Tell me about a time you...". I am always worried about blanking during the interview, so I try to think of specific experiences ahead of time that I can fall back on and be prepared! In a phone interview, that's a bonus- because you can have the word document right there in front of you! Hope this helps, and good luck!

Thank you so much for your advices. Is there anything i should avoid saying during the phone interview. What are the appropriate questions i should ask for the phone interview.
