Peninsula Information please

I'm a RN in NC thinking about relocating to the peninsula area of hampton roads. (NN, Hampton, Yorktown, Gloucester or Isle of Wight County). not sure exactly which city yet. I was curious if anyone could tell me anything about Williamsburg's state mental health hospital and I'm also interested in the Veterans Hospital in Hampton. I would really appreciate any experiences, input or suggestions.

Thanks!

Hello,

I live in Newport News, VA that is like in the middle of all the places you mentioned. I just graduated from Thomas Nelson Community College. I shopped around and they are the cheapest school in this area and you get an Associates Degree. They have since changed there requirements for getting in. Students now have to take a special exam. TCC also have an accelerated Program. If you want a Bachelors go to Norfolk State, Hampton University, or Old Dominion University. YOu still have MCI or Riverside School of Professional Nursing. I chose TNCC because they were the cheapest I could afford. Good LUCK!!!

thanks for the reply, but i am already a registered nurse so i was more interested about dialysis or psych jobs up in that exact area. i actually have a friend in newport news. do you know anything about dialysis or psych positions up there? what is the going pay rate? thanks so much.

Eastern state hospital in williamsburg, COmmunity services Board in hampton, and VA medical center in hampton are the major psych wards around here. Eastern state is hiring almost everyday. A couple of students in my class work there and they love it. VA medical center has got a couple of lawsuits going on in the psych ward at there facility. I saw a newpaper article about a month ago. As far as dialysis, Riverside Regional Hospital has some positions on their site. There's another place called Davita that has some positions in the Sentara Careplex.

Have a friend who works for Davita, on call lots, gets paid well.
