Does anyone know if there is a state board to be a PCT in Florida?
I just graduated from a PCT class in June and was told the whole time during class that we didn't need to take State Boards that we would be certified when we were done. But the certificates they gave us have NO numbers, expiration dates or anything on them. Every application I come to asks for those things?
So does anyone know??

hey,i am a nursing student looking for a job in the mean time. i was looking into doing a pct program but decided to go ahead and do the cna program instead. the reason i decided to go that route is because the pct programm cross train you in nursing assistant and hha(home health aid) i didnt want to do that cause thats just waste of time and waste of money to learn hha which i am not intrested in. anyways i am assume they gave you a certificate of completion so with that you can go a head and sit for the nursing assistant board test to get certified here is the link to get more info:http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/cna/index.html and for faq (which i strongly suggest to read) its: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/cna/cna-faqs.htm
hope i can help...good luck
***oh and if you want to work in the hospital i stronely suggest getting certified in ekg and phlebotomy, if not you can still try and get a job without it, but you can get certified for nursing assistant which is what a pct is at least thats what hospital call cnas.

I never heard of PCT's being certified, and I was one for 2 years. Here in PA, the PCT's are not certified, CNA's are. My guess, though, is that you are probably qualified to sit for the CNA exam if you so desire to do so.
I know they are not certified, I never said that PCT are certified . I said that has a PCT you can sit for the nursing assistant board test.

Around here PCT is what they call a CNA in the hospital. I am one. I had my CNA through a career center, then when the hospital hired me they trained me to be a PCT. It was required to be a CNA before being placed in the hospital training program.
