PCC Nursing Program = RN in 1 year?

Published

Anyone ever been in PCC's Nursing Program? (See http://www.pasadena.edu/divisions/health-sciences/rn/Registered_Nursing_Information_Brochure.pdf).

I was wondering if it's possible to graduate in just one year and not two? I am willing to give up summers and be a full-time student. Am still planning to get a BSN at a four year afterwards. Have not been accepted yet but am registering as a first year student with the CC right now.

Thanks in advance.

There isnt a way to complete the program in under 2 years unless you are already an LVN. PCC doesnt have the core classes during the summer and winter intersessions because its entirely too much information compiled into such a short time. No school does it actually, again, unless you are already an LVN.

So, if you are already an LVN (which I would use LVN to RN bridge program instead of this), what's the fastest time you can go from LVN to RN? Looking on Google I see anything from 11 to 18 months, though most of these are long-distance or online programs I'm not even sure I can trust.

Hope this information helps and good luck to you!!!

Im an LVN and I am going through their bridge program. I will be finished in one year (2 semesters). As long as I complete all the requirements with a passing standard.

Does their bridge program only operate through spring and fall or is it into summer, too? Looking in that pamphlet it says there is an intersession mandatory prior to starting the course. Is this in summer?

Thank you for your help.

It could be summer or winter. I took my class during the wintersession because it feel in accordance with the acceptance date. As an LVN, its a transition course. It bridges the gap and lays the ground work for you to become and RN student. They only offer those during the intersession to get you ready for the full semester to come. So In my case. I completed the bridge already, but I had to defer my entrance into 3rd semester until fall for personal reasons. Otherwise, I wouldve gone right into spring, took summer off and then finished in the fall. But, now I will start in the fall and finish next spring.

Thank you for the help. I will be applying soon but this means I won't see the program until Fall 2011. Anyway, I am finding the prereqs relatively short and easy, but I am not sure about Microbiology.

Once again, thanks.

Micro was fun! By far the best science prereq I had to take in my opinion!! Lol. I like A&P, but micro was more fun with the staining and stuff. Good luck with all your endeavours and Im sure you will do great!! Whatever you do, dont give up!! You can do this.... LoL
