Paying for vs county

LONGGG Story short as i can: I broke and dislocated my ankle while on vacation and had to have it surgically fixed. I do not have insurance (only 8 damn months out of my entire life was i not to have insurance---i hopefuly start working at end of summer as a nurse)

I had my ankle surgically repaired, and now i am back home. I am waiting to see if i can get help for the 30,000$$ i owe alone in california.

To get my staples out, should i go sit in the county ER with a bunch of books and wait and get it for free?? (i know it will take like umpteen hours)

Or should i build myself more into debt and get it taken out by a doctor at a hospital near myhouse?

Same question for surgery to remove my last pin?

I do not want to but i would like to know if this would work...

My debt is seriously scaring me...

Thanks for listening!

We can't provide medical advice. However, as your question is about paying for medical care, its okay. In my area (central IL), our hospitals all have charity care of some kind. Do you have any non-profit hospitals in your area? I would call the billing offices of a couple of hospitals and let them know your predicament and see what help they can offer.

Good luck.
