Pay difference from NY to PA?

Published

Hello everyone! Currently I'm an RN (with my BSN) living and working on Long Island, NY. Problem is, I tend to be more of a country girl at heart! My best friend moved right outside Allentown PA about a year ago and I've really fallen in love with the area. You can go from a suburban area to corn fields and back roads in 10 minutes, which I love! It's the perfect blend of "city" and "country" for me. I'd probably be looking to move down there with the next 2-3 years.

How much of a pay cut will I be taking? Currently I'm making $41/hr. I know the cost of living is much cheaper down there, but Great Lakes is going to want their $$$ no matter where I'm working!

Also, what are the good hospitals in the area? I'm currently working on a step down floor and hoping to transfer to ICU when they have an available position to build my resume.

Any additional info on being a nurse in PA would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
