Patient Needs _____

So I had a really interesting patient a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd share. She was in with vague abdominal issues and constipation. Although she was already cleared by GI, she was being kept overnight after refusing to be discharged. She wanted a new order for EVERY new symptom she had,

she's nauseous and needs something new,

she has a headache and needs something new

she wants something for the constipation

now she wants something for the diarrhea

she's burping and needs something on top of pepcid

constipated again, needs something for that

Headache still hasn't gone away, and just remembered shes allergic to Tylenol after taking it all day

This isn't even a vent, I actually just found the situation funny. After calling the MD like 6 times, he said not to call back unless it was a emergency. Patient was not happy about me telling her I'm not calling the doctor anymore. Then of course, right at 0655 she starts complaining of severe chest pain, and I had to do an EKG before leaving.

She also tried to have me written up for ignoring her call light.

Some people are just ....yeah....
