Finally a RN, 2013
1 Post
I promised if I was to pass the NCLEX that I would make a post. The reason for this is that I had read so many blogs after I failed the first time that really inspired me that I was hoping to help someone that is struggling like I was.
I did not pass the NCLEX the first time. I graduated with my BSN with honors, but did not pass the NCLEX. I was devastated to say the least. I could not believe I could make it all the way through nursing school with mostly A's and a few B's, but could not pass the test.
The first time I took NCLEX I had 265 questions. There were so many things that I did not know about the test that I really got flustered. The first thing is when I reached about 130 questions I started to panic. Do no panic if you are still going at 130, 160, 200, 230 this means that you still have a chance. Take breaks. I took the first break, but did not take any others. I should have because it would have relaxed me a little. I did Kaplan and did very good on the questions, but still failed.
After I failed I took a week off. I read many blogs on what strategies people had used to pass. I started Hurst Review and it was wonderful. I learned so much. I faithfully went over and over it to make sure I understood it. I just took test and I passed. Not only did I pass, but I only had 75 questions.
Moral of the story is to not give up because I really wanted to, but didn't. The other thing is know content. This helped me greatly! I hope I have inspired a few people with this post.

Did you think Hurst covered all of the material on the NCLEX? I graduated dec 2011 and went overseas (husband is in the military). I just arrived back to the US and have decided to start studying so that I can start work. I cant decide if I should purchase HURST or Kaplan. What do you think about both reviews? Did you use any other study material to study? Thank you.
