Hello, So I dont mean to get ahead of myself. But im starting paramedic school soon and i was hoping to get a job in the ER, how ever Im also very interested in getting my RN. Is thier a major pay diffrence? I have done research but I want to make sure its right. Also should I go for a two year degree of four year degree if I choose to do nursing?

Thank You

I'm a paramedic working in a hospital ER now. I've been a medic for 18 years and think the time to change is now, especially with the pay differential. RN's make about $8-$10 an hour more than the medics make, plus the OT pay is MUCH greater. Good luck with your schooling!

We have a few RN's in our ER that were once paramedics. They have told me the pay is a lot better as a RN so that is the main reason they made the change.
