Pacu Nursing

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

I'm wondering if other PACU nurses could comment.

Do you transport patients going from phase 1 recovery in beds or stetchers?

Our unit does both, but since we are moving to a new facility discussion is hot on both ends of this issue. Thanks

hips, and total knees go on beds all most all others go on stretchers. I wish all pts could go on beds. They say it is too much wear and tear on the expensive beds.

Our orthopedics go on beds. Our Gastric Bypass patients and almost all ICU patients go back on their beds. It's so convenient when they go back on their beds...it saves the post op patient a painful move and saves our backs from having to move them over into their bed, too. Plus stretchers are NOT comfortable in any way for the patients.

Back to the beds!!! Stretchers are out...way out!

Welcome to allnurses!!!!!!!!!!!!
