OXNARD AREA RNs

Published

Hello Everyone,

I'm currently in a nursing program in Virginia Beach. My husband is in the military and we will be transferring sometimes in October to Point Mugu. It's not as easy to find out how things are done in different state. I never been to California. I heard that it's very hard to get accepted into RN or BSN programs and the waiting lists are long, which all of this making me very nervous. Therefore, I'm wondering if anyone here can tell me about programs available in the Oxnard/ ventura area. Pros and cons, what are the numbers with acceptances rates, cost of programs, if anyone had experience transferring into a program half way in. I'm hoping to be able to transfer my associates of science credits. My GPA is not very good 3.5. I have a 2 year old son and staying behind one year to finish the program is not an option for me. Also, driving to LA I won't be able to do it either. So if anyone can answer some of my questions I would greatly appreciate it, since I'm very worried not being able to get back in soon. I just need general imput of someone local and give me some information about programs, more of reality.

Thanks

Toni

Moorpark College (30 min drive), Ventura College (20 min drive), Cal State Channel Island University (10 min drive), all have nursing programs. Since you are already in a nursing program you apply as an advance placement student. I do warn it is extremely competitive but not impossible. Contact them for further info. No waiting list as they go by the point system.
