Out of state interview, high chances of getting the job?

After applying to almost a dozen of hospitals and LTC in the NY area without success I decided to look out of state. I applied to a position out of state around 1am-130am, at 9am same day I got a call from the recruiter requesting an interview. I was more than surprised  Since the reply was so quick and I'm flying over to the interview, do you think my chances of getting the job are high? I just want to stay positive because I really need a job ASAP.

Well it certainly is not a negative sign! Good luck!

I think you need to be able to show that you would be committed to moving to the area, and moving quickly. You'll need to be able to give an available start date that is relatively soon. If you haven't started looking for a place to live in the area, do so now so you have a general idea of the geographical layout and where you might like to rent a place. Make a list of what you like about the state/area. What draws you there? What are you lookin forward to? What will keep you in the area? Do you have family or friends nearby?

I got an out of state job, but I think a big reason was that I was already committed to moving to the area anyway. I wasn't moving just for the job. My husband already had a job and we had already signed a lease for a house and my sister lived nearby. So the employer knew I was already invested in the area and not likely to move in the near future.

The fact is hospitals will hire out of state applicants, but you need to show that you are looking to stay long term. The hospital won't want you if they get the impression that you are willing to pick up and move the minute you get a better offer.

I agree they will be looking for a committment to move, not commute if that is even possible. Around here commuting is restricted by weather about 5 months of the year. Some hospitals will help you relocate, ask if they will. Good luck

Thanks everyone. I only have a friend who lives in the area, no family. I've been looking into rent prices and cost of living in the area which is so much lower than NY. As for a start date, I realistically need at least 3 weeks to find a place & move. Hopefully they will understand.
