I Have been encouraging my Daughter to go for RN. While I was checking out out local community college web site, I discovered that they now offer The RN program with skills and clinicals offered on the Weekends. As I am from MN I would sugest checking out your local CC. I did every class I could online. that was how I could work full time and still do all the classes required.
I am Starting RN-MS this fall, that will be totaly online, and that is at an University. I will continue working full time.
They also offer the LPN online as well. I am sure our college is not the only one.

In NC they offer the same programs. BUT the same problems coexist,Too many people, not enough slots. For example my local CC has an accelerated LPN to RN 12 month program. You have to have two years of working experience to apply. Well there were 67 people fighting for a 15 slot program. See the problem. Also there is a online LPN to RN program in my state. They have about 300 applicants fighting for 10 slots. See the problem? Pretty much Excelsior is my alternative. The wait list to these programs are ridiculous!
That may be in your area. but it is not the case everywhere. Our LPN Program is open enrollment. I signed up the week before the fall semester. I had to wait one semester for the RN progrmam. but that was my fault I was missing ONE prereq... and by waiting that semester I was able to complete most of my Co-reqs and start the Spring semester.
I know the Colleges are trying there best to accomidate as many students possible.
What I am trying to say is keep checking things do change.
