OSCE

Published

I am going to have several OSCEs (Observed Standardized Clinical Examination) during my FNP Clinicals and I am wondering how hard they are to pass. My college says that most everyone passes. It is a pass/fail type test.

I have tried to find information on allnurses but all the posts are mainly for the Canada OSCE. Also, there isn't too many books on the subject for nurse practitioner students. I am assuming that the lack of threads on this forum is a good thing or more people would be asking about it. I just don't know how to prepare for it and they're not giving us much information.

For example, for an ear complaint I would assume doing a complete physical exam from the chest up. Or do they want you to just do a focused ear exam? We have 20 minutes for the subjective/objective and 10 min to write our soap.

Thanks for your responses!

Hey tcat42,

I wish that I could help you, I am in the PNP program. I am planning on taking Advanced Assessment this Fall, could you please offer any type of advice on how to pass the class???? I have heard that it is challenging.

Thanks
