Orientation Question

I have a question... when you start working and have to do a Orientation for a while do you get paid or only paid a little or not get paid at all? I just was wondering how that works.

I know you have to work with another RN to learn and prove that you can do everything by youself. And are you hired and have to do a orientation or do you have to do a orientation then if you do good they would hire you?

Thanks!

I think it's pretty standard to get paid your usual rate for orientation. If someone wanted me to "orient" and not be getting paid, I'd be very cautious about accepting a job from them...

Maybe you're thinking of shadowing? Some places will let you shadow for a day or two with another RN in order for you to see the flow of things on the floor, as well as for them to get to know you... that wouldn't be paid, because at that point there usually hasn't been a job offer yet.
