Organizations to join as a student

I know a lot of organizations have discounts for students who join. I'm wondering what types of organizations are out there? I am looking for organizations that have publications or newsletters with interesting topics, membership will look good on a resume, and/or have ways to network with other nurses. My former profession had a ton of organizations with great resources and information that were several hundred dollars a year for practitioners and like $10 for students. Is there anything similar that is nursing-related.

You could try The American Nurses Association... I actually don't think it costs anything to join as a nursing student and you get free access to The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing. I had to do a project about them for school so I remember a little of info from that but go to their website for some more info. The address is: http://www.nursingworld.org and there should be a section for students. Hope that helps a little! :wink2:

Yes, thank you. That is exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for. In case anyone else is interested, here is a direct link to sign up as as student:

There is also the National Sudent Nurses Association.

You do have to pay to join, but you get access to the NSNA as well as your state student nurses association too.
