Jul 24, 20241 yr This order is so confusing to me! Can someone please help with the following: Medication - Injectafer 50 mg iron/mL intravenous solution Quantity - 2 (two) 15 mL vial SIG - Inject 4 mL every week by intravenous route as directed for 7 days. Refills Allowed - 2 I feel dumb as rocks, just need to be sure, Is it just the 4 mL? Also this med can be IV push. Thank you! ?? Jul 24, 20241 yr Experts The order is not clear. It should have the actual dose (in this case 200mg) and the route should be specified. I believe they meant IVP since there is no dilution instructions and it can be pushed but it should be clarified. Is this a home medication?

If it's to be given as an infusion you need orders for diluent and rate or length of infusion. If it's IVP it's going to take you a minute as it's slow push.
Jul 24, 20241 yr Author I'll call to clarify, but I think it's IVP and I read on med website that it's about 7 min. So it's just the 4 mL? thank you!
Jul 24, 20241 yr Experts It seems that it's 4ml but the order is oddly written. "Intravenous route" is open to interpretation and it is not normal to write a nursing med order by volume not by actual dose. That's more like a civilian prescription.
