OR Internship

Hello all! I  have been a medsurg nurse for about 4 years now and I’ve  decided to try to transition over to the OR, which was my original nursing plan and my ultimate end goal (to become a surgical NP with first assist training). I have applied a total of 4 times over the last year for the OR internship at the hospital I work at, interviewed all four times and got offered a job exactly zero of those times ?‍♀️ Suffice it to say I have been feeling like a complete loser and have been racking my brain (even going so far as to reach out personally to the manager to see how I could improve my application) as to why I’m not being chosen, but repeatedly interviewed. A friend of mine suggested it may be because I’m about to start an NP Program, which I disclosed, and they might not think I can handle both, but honestly IDK. What do you guys think? Is the OR internship really that stressful that a part time school schedule in additional would be unbearable? Would love to hear y’all’s feedback and any experiences y’all might have had with landing an OR position. (misery loves company as they say ?)

Hi!  I wish I had advice for you, just following because my goal is to become an OR nurse someday too (I'm a new RN student so I have a ways to go).  I have one question for you:  Do you still get paid as an intern?  I am just planning for the future.  I feel like I would do it even if I didn't get paid, but have always been curious if specialty internships offer some level of pay or not.  Good luck and I hope you get it the next time you have a chance to apply!
