OR to ICU

I need to have weekdays free due to child/school issues, and I can't do that working in the OR - my preference is nights and weekends.

I am happy working in the OR, but for the next few years I need to change my schedule. I have been accepted for some ICU positions; there are the only places I considered.

Is there anyone out there who has successfully transitioned from the OR? If you couldn't do OR, would ICU be your next choice? I love "techie" things, machines, etc., as well as people.
