Online Pre-req classes?

So I have been reading some posts here and some pre-nursing students are taking online Micro and APII courses with @ home labs.

Do nursing programs accept these kind of classes? Or does it vary between nursing programs.

Anyone know about California programs accepting these courses?

hi

I believe you are applying for the OU program right???? anyway they do accept classes from Rio and ccconline....I am looking to register for Micro and AP II...when are you planning to apply?

Yes I am going to apply to OU (Glendale). I want to apply for Summer 2009. I am looking to register for Micro and APII too. Those are the only classes I have left to take. I can take them at my local community college, but I'd rather do them online. Gosh if I would have known I could take them online I would have registered for the Fall because I am sure not doing anything school related right now :)

I wonder if other programs accept these courses because I am intending to apply for other schools in CA as well. I have an appointment tomorrow at Samuel Merritt to go over transcripts, etc so I am going to ask them.

I am scared that if I take these courses online and I don't get into OU then I'm screwed if other nursing programs won't take these courses.

So ask them first ...when is the latest you could apply for summer 09 then you can take AP II as a 8 week course at RIO and Micro 10 weeks at cconline or take them in the same time

the deadline for summer 2009 is march 1st. but their website says that

all prerequisite courses and/or degrees must be posted prior to the first day of class in the nursing program.

students with outstanding coursework are encouraged to submit a class schedule with their application.

so i assuming we can have courses that are in progress.

oh I am so confused now ...I thought the courses supposed to be finished by the time we apply....so you are saying that some courses could be in progress? I thought that they changed it now so you cannot apply...make sure

Well Rio has AP II 8 weeks starting january

Hmmm I don't know then. I'm going to call them tomorrow and find out for sure. The information on the website makes it seem like you can because it says attach courses IP with your application.

At Rio an APII class just started today.....wonder if it's too late to sign-up? Says there are seats available.

And a Micro class started today.

oh I amsure it is not too late ...however they want you tohave the prereq for these classes and they cannot be older than 8 years. Obviously API and for Micro I believe General Bio

it is not too late as long as you post your assignment ontime ....however call Rio tomorrow

good luck

so what did you find out???

so i just spoke with ou admissions office and she said you must have all the prerequisites completed by the time you apply. she said their website is wrong as they just changed this policy and have not updated the website yet. that sucks....because now i can't apply for summer 2009 :(

i also called around to other colleges and for example csu-long beach or csu-la will not accept online science courses even though it has a lab. they said i need to have a "wet lab" component under the supervision of an instructor. so i have decided not to take them online because i wanted to apply for other schools.

oh sorry to hear I thought I knew the classes clould not be in progress anymore...
