Online DNP programs

Hi, I'm have my BSN and have been working as an RN for 5 years. I'm looking into going back to school for my DNP to ultimately become a primary care NP. What do you all think about the 100% online DNP programs? Do employers seem to prefer a "traditional" education? Also, how does it work with finding a preceptor for the practical credits towards the end of the program? Thanks!

With most online programs, you are "on your own" to find your own preceptors -- and that can be a big problem. A few schools help you find preceptors, but most do not. This is one of the things you should investigate about any school you are considering: how much help do they give you in finding preceptors. I live in an area where it can take months of trying for students to find preceptors, delaying their graduation for months -- or even years!

I'm curious (and I hope you don't mind me asking in your thread, SarahP1), does anyone know of any online programs for FNP or PMHNPs that provide clinical placement, even if you have to travel to their campus a few times a year? I'm planning way ahead for me, but seems like it might apply for the OP's question, too.

Even the local state programs in my area don't seem to do much to provide for clinicals for NP programs, and I find that worrying.
