What can one expect during an investigation by the Ohio BON?
Anyone with any experience with this? Thanks in advance!

It depends on what for. An investigation for license fraud, for example, is going to be far different than an investigation into impaired nursing.
I think this sums up the majority of their investigation process:
The Board, in the course of an investigation, may obtain records or seek information through interviews with you and/or other individuals relevant to the complaint. In addition, hospitals, pharmacies, and other health care facilities or providers of care, may also be contacted, in accordance with Board policies and depending on the nature of the complaint. The Board has subpoena power and will utilize this power when warranted.
They'll pull your records, speak with you and anyone else they need to, including supervisors, coworkers, etc.
I haven't been through it, but a few nurses at a facility I did a clinical at it went through it (meant we got a few days off clinical but heard all about it afterwards). There's some further information on the BON website, but not much.
It's not either of the two you mentioned. If I can figure out how, may I e-mail you? I can't pm cuz I just joined.
sure - just email me at [email protected]
Thanks! I did....

No personal experience re: BON investigation, but the general consensus on this type of thing seems to be:
GET AN ATTORNEY....NOW. Contact TAANA (http://www.taana.org) for the name of a nurse attorney in your area. You do not want a standard criminal defense attorney - you want one who specializes in administrative law/license defense.
Get an attorney before taking to the BON. No conversation with them re: an investigation is simple, safe, or easy. They all have consequences.
Good luck!
Thanks. I've carried insurance through NSO for 28 yrs. Guess I should give them a call, eh? This kind of thing can just freeze you in your tracks! sheesh!
