OCN certification...does it really make a difference?

I've worked on a medical-oncology floor for 2 years. I'm chemo certified by ONS (I don't get pain any extra for this). I was thinking about getting my OCN certification, because I want to start traveling soon. For those of you who already have it, do you benefit in any way by having the national certification? Or is this just something you do to make yourself feel good about another accomplishment? For those of you who are certified, I hope I'm not putting you down in any way (I think it's great to be better educated in your field). I just don't want to put myself through the stress of taking the test if it's not going to benefit my career. Thanks in advance for your input!

I don't have OCN certification, but, have been thinking about it especially since I am on an extended break from school right now. I've been doing hem/onc for a little over 2 years. My employer likes for us to have the certification. They pay for the exam, reimburse for all CEUs, and give a $500 bonus to take and pass the exam.

I think it's totally worth it!!! But for my job it's recommended but not required. We don't get paid extra but we can get reimburse for doing the classes/CEU and testing. Im hope to take my test next year.
