OB/Maternity Prep

Hello!

I am about to start block three in my BSN program. I have about a month left of summer break and really want to prep myself for OB/Maternity nursing, so that things will come easier to me as the semester goes along (really looking for straight A's !) So, what kinds of things do you think I should review/learn BEFORE the semester begins. I bought "Maternity and Neonatal Nursing Made Incredibly Easy." I like it, but it seems there is a lot of info in there that I don't think I'll need to know. What should I focus on? What do the instructors stress on the tests?

THanks so much :)

Let's see, we had APGAR, BPP, US, glucose testing/limits/levels, positions for infant sleeping, corificeat placement, breastfeeding and burping positions. Substance abuse mothers, what the babies would have as far as symptoms, non stress tests, contraction stress tests, normal growth and development of the embryo, fetus, newborn, normal pregnacy changes in the mom, how to know when something is wrong during pregnancy, signs of ectopic preg, incompitant cervix, placenta previa, abrupto placenta. Common complaints during pregnacy and when they happen and what you can do about them (example nausea in 1st tri, eat crackers before rising), issues during labor, normal labor, meds during labor, meds for inducing labor, meds for everything pregnacy related. Positions of fetus in womb, use of doppler for fetal heart rate & how to apply it. Leopolds maneuvers, pelvis shapes of the mom, which one was best for delivery. That's all I can think of off the top of my head! If I think of more I'll post. But I'm sure it's all just basic stuff you'll see in your text or a google.
