Hello Everyone!:)
As of lately, Ive been thinking about going into NICU again. This time trying out in a diffrent hospital. I'm currently working in a mother baby unit. Does anyone work in NYU's Nicu or knows someone that does that can give me insight as to the following questions.
How is the unit orientation? Did you feel prepared and confident to work as a nicu nurse after?
Can you describe your orientation process?
What is the unit culture?
Do you feel supported as a nurse?
Please feel free to add anything else you may feel will be beneficial to my knowledge about the hospital and unit>
TIA

I did my last semester of NNP clinical there last year. I know the manager has changed since I was there, but the staff seemed happy overall. It's an older unit, and the census was low the entire time I was there (16-18).
The docs and NNPs were awesome.
thank you for your responce. im looking forward to once again trying to complete my dream..
My ultimate goal is to work somewhere in a NCU I can grow as a nurse, and feel supported. NYU and Morgan Stanley are my two choices where I have been working. Overall Im trying to gain expirence first, then venture out.
I work at Morgan Stanley.....however we are not hiring RNs at this time in NICU. We are fully staffed. This is the first time in 3 years that there are no RN positions posted for our unit...
Hi Steve!
m not looking for a position at the moment. I just wanted to get feedback as to orientation and unit culture for future endevors. Should there ever be a postion opening, please let me know..thanks

Hey Steve, I have a question about Morgan Stanley (and other NICU's in the NYC area). I am hoping to relocate at some point for personal reasons. I was wondering, when there are RN positions open, and they are not interested in hiring new grads, how much experience would they expect? I am currently in a 66 bed level III NICU. I am hoping 1 year of experience would be enough to get me considered, but I also have a nagging feeling they might want a minimum of 2.
Sorry this post is somewhat off topic. I appreciate this thread :)
My manager frequently hires new grads, as well as all levels of NICU experience. Obviously any L-III experience is preferred...
thanks. Does anyone else have feedback for the following questions
