Nursing

Published

Hi All,

I'm a 17 year old international student studying the IB diploma. I want to pursue nursing in Canada however, I didn't take Chemistry for my IB course, and I've seen that it's a major prerequisite in almost all Canadian university programs. Would it be possible for me to pursue BA psychology, then transfer into a nursing program?

Also, feel free to just give any other advice. Would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dorothy

Hey Dorothy,

I think you'd still have to meet the Chemistry prerequisites for the Nursing programs, regardless of your degree. I think your BA in Psychology will give you bonus points for most nursing programs that favour people who have their degrees, however, you'd still need to take courses that meet their prerequisites.

I suggest contacting post-secondary schools you wish to attend and ask them what college courses you could take that is equivalent to Chemistry 11/12. (Make sure they are transferrable)

@Jollibee

hey jollibee,

I think so too. I was just wondering if it would be possible for me to go into BA psych and while doing so, complete the chem prerequisite as a college course?

I've done some research and BA psych does not require Chemistry as a prerequisite, however, BSc psych does, which is why I'm also wondering if there's a large difference between a bachelor of arts and of science?

thanks for your reply!!

Dorothy
