Nursing School Options

Hello,

I am interested in becoming a Neo Natal/Pediatric RN. I already have a bachelors degree in another field non related to nursing. I dont have any of the pre reqs so I have to take them at a local school. I live in NYC and if you know NY u know that it will extremely expensive to go back to school for a 2nd degree here. I just need some advice, I was wondering if anyone thinks if I should start off with LPN ( for experience),or Medical Assistant or just go straight forward with the RN-Accelerated Program (12 mth nursing program) ?? Any suggestions or great nursing schools in nyc? I have NYU, Columbia and Pace university on my list for the accelerated program.

PS-- Also, any chance I will get a job in the Neo Natal ward upon graduation?

Any suggestions you can give will be very helpful
