Nursing Program at BC Central - FALL 2014

Hi everyone!

I'm starting the generic RN program at Broward College's CENTRAL campus this August and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on professors to take or study tips for the first few classes. Also the dress code. Any info would help and is greatly appreciated!

Im starting too. And with all the horror stories i see, the best i can say is "mouth close, ears open" we must not go with an angry mindset about the teachers. Since we know what the school is about, we have to be 10 steps ahead at all times. We do this by reading ahead and self-teaching. The most important thing is to not expect the teachers to teach us. It is up to us to learn the concept of answering nursing-style questions. The teachers are there to clerify if they feel ike it i guess. And read every single thing in the chapters; especially the highlighted boxes. Practice math over and over until it becomes habit. Keep your head in the books and forget about student/teacher drama. Make nursing school your bread and butter and get it done!

Hi! Unfortunately, you don't always get to choose your professors. I know if I could I wouldn't retake the same instructor that failed me this past summer. What you can do though is learn their teaching styles by asking students that have taken those instructors. Central is not too bad, but some professors weren't who I'd choose if I had to redo nursing school again. Central is pretty laid back with uniform on lecture days (blue polo from bookstore, or any shirt really, jeans, shoes). Clinicals are the blue scrubs from the bookstore, no jewelry, only the nursing jacket if you're cold (guys don't normally wear it), and a positive attitude! Read, read, read your Perry and Potter texts. They are your new best friends, lol. Relax, but not too much, you've come this far already. You can do it!
