Nursing prerequisite classes sequence question.

Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anyone can help me in choosing how to sequence my classes to help me learn the material better, leading up to taking Anatomy and Physiology, etc.

The college I am attending requires the following classes before I can apply for their nursing school: English Writing (already 4.0 this class), Math (statistics class I am taking this semester), Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology.

I am really trying to figure out what sequence to take my science classes in to get the most learning out of them and the best grades.

I am considering taking extra classes to get me ready for the following classes: Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Anatomy & Physiology.

I was thinking of taking Chemistry and either Intro to Biology or Human Biology next semester (the Intro to and/or Human Biology is not required for nursing entrance at my school, but I thought it might help me prepare for the higher biology).

I want to get myself prepared for the hard biology classes to come in the future that are required for nursing entrance at the school I am attending.

I guess my question is: if students had the nursing prerequisites to do over again, how would they do it? Should I take Microbiology before or after Anatomy & Physiology? Should I take Pharmacology last? Should I take the Human Biology class at my school (that is not a nursing entrance required class) to help get me ready for the higher biology classes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Chris

Did you check to see if there are any prereqs to these classes? Like we can't take micro until A&P I is completed. I would take micro with A&P II. I found much of the content overlaps. It also depends on how many sciences your program requires. I don't have to take chemistry. I could take Advanced Physiology instead and it has a lot of chem in it and I am really enjoying the class. I would speak with an advisor at your school and talk to them.

My school also has pre-reqs for each science. You can't take A&P2 until you pass A&P1, and you can't take Micro until you pass A&P2. Pharmacology and Chemistry are not required for me, although I am planning on taking Chemistry at some point anyway, since I know it'll be required for my BSN eventually. I had been out of school for a while, so I did take a refresher (Intro to Physiology) before starting A&P1, and was very glad that I did.
