We have a homework assignment where we have to list 4 nursing interventions if a pacemaker is not capturing. I understand a failure to capture means that the pacemaker is not providing enough of a charge to produce atrial or ventricular contraction, and that this can lead to bradycardia or tachycardia. I'm just not sure what the nursing interventions are if this occurs.
Answers would be helpful, or even just sources that can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

So what happens to the patient when the heart goes too fast or too slow? How would those affect cardiac output? What interventions would you do based off of those? Who would you contact? What could you do to get the heart back to its normal rhythm?
