I'm a new graduate nurse working on a med/surg floor and I absolutely hate it. Even as a student, med/surg was my least favorite clinical. What I like about med/surg is that it gives you so much insight into various diseases and how to treat them. But I hate the stress of the job, particularly caring for 8, sometimes 9, patients at once. Is there a field in nursing where I can continue to learn about these different medical conditions but without the stress that comes with being in med/surg?

I worked in post-acute physical rehabilitation for six years and was exposed to a myriad of disease processes.
Some of these conditions included cerebrovascular disease, various cancers, COPD, diabetes, CHF, CAD, hyperlipidemia, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, scoliosis, kyphosis, peripheral vascular disease, chronic kidney disease, end stage renal disease, liver cirrhosis, paraplegia, quadriplegia, gout, DVT, pulmonary embolism, and so forth.
I was also exposed to the care of postoperative patients who had undergone knee and hip arthroplasties, ORIFs, CABGs, colectomies, fresh colostomies, thrombectomies, fresh gastrostomy tube placements, new tracheostomies, amputations, craniotomies, aneurysm clippings, hysterectomies, etc.
