Do you mean cultural nursing? Could you be refering to Madeleine Leininger's Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality?

Three parts of this are culture care maintenance/preservation; accommodation/negotiation; and repatterning/restructuring.

The point is to provide care to patients while being mindful of their cultural practices, values, beliefs and needs. If we can incorporate their cultural needs into our careplan, then we may be able to provide more effective care gaining their trust and cooperation/compliance.

dear Annie,

search google and i have found http://www.culturediversity.org. here

some example from my culture and nursing lecture: middle eastern: female patients need female health care provider, sometimes male pt wil ask for male provider, men and women usually avoid touching outside family members, male-dominated, expect immediate pain relieve from health care professional; chineses belive in alternative medicine and commonly use it in conjunction with medical treatment (herbs, acupuncture, food), important non-verbal contact, hesitant to ask question, both parents make decision about kids; african-american: strong family and friends relationship/support, prayer is common, when hospitalized common to be seeing by their minister, attempt home remiedies first, seek medical help when condition worsen; mexican: usually bilingual, tend to use native language when understressed, value direct eye-contact, like open-ended question, strong family connection and making decisions, magico-religoius practices common, may view hospital as place to die (enforce nursing teaching!); white: prefere handshake, smiling and direct eye-contact, socialize with close family and friends, expert most current treatment and techniques use, self-care, cert knowledgable about treatment and meds esp. later during health care, usually want everything now;

hope it helps, :)
