nursing considerations for ruptured appendix

Published

i am working on a case study regarding appendicitis. I have all of my nursing books out and have looked through every one of them but cant seem to find the information. I am looking for nursing considerations for ruptured appendix. In my Patho reference I found "Nursing Management" section on p 197 but it isn't what the case study is asking for. i have also used my Medical Surgical Nursing book, Patho made easy book and Nursing: A Concept Based Approach but all of these are very general and do not address everything in the case study. need suggestions on possible websites that can help my find what I need. The question I am on is below:

R.O. undergoes an appendectomy; the appendix has ruptured. The peritoneum is inflamed and abscesses are seen near the colon and small intestine. R.O. is admitted to the surgical unit; she is NPO, has a nasoga- stric tube (NGT), Foley catheter, IV line, abdominal dressing, and a Penrose drain.
