Nursing in Bahrain

Published

Hi all,

I could seriously use some help and advice right now, I am 28 years old and a British national living in Bahrain.

I graduated with my Bsc Nursing from Bahrain in 2012, after this I searched high and low for a decent nursing jobarrow-10x10.png for the next two years with no luck. To give you a history about here, the pay is absolutely ridiculous compared to what I could earn in the UK, U.S or even in another country in the GCC like Qatar, but for personal reasons (my fiance who is a Dr is here) leaving is not an optionarrow-10x10.png at the moment.

So after trying to find workarrow-10x10.png over a gruelling 2 year period the best I could find was a salary of 250bd a month, ($660.00). Now don't get me wrong its not only the moneyarrow-10x10.png that held me back because if I was thinking about it properly I know that to get my license and obtain experience is far more worthy than a good pay, however after looking for so long I realised that I just didn't have the passion for nursing that I had when I started university, in fact its Midwifery I have a great deal of passion for but theres currently nowhere here to study it so thats not an option.

Im currently working as a kindergarten teacher making over double the amount I would as a nurse, with less hours and more holidays! Ideal except I can't shake the guilt that I've wasted a whole four years hard work to get that degree not to mention all the university fees my dad paid.

Is there any suggestion or advice anyone can give on where I can go from here to use my nursing degree elsewhere? Does every postgraduate degree after nursing require experience?

Any help is majorly appreciated :)

Could you not return to the UK every so many months for a few months and work to keep up and gain nursing experience?
