Hi everyone, I just graduated from nursing school and looking to get some certifications during this summer while looking for a job. Does anyone know where in the Hudson Valley of NY you get the NRC for the NICU?

What is NRC? Do you mean RN-C NICU? You have to have two years experience in the specialty area you are testing for.
Or do you mean NRP? You take the exam online and then you have to do a simulation within 30 days. Call hospitals in your area for the simulation.

and NRP you really kinda need some experience to help understand what they are teaching you.

You cannot get specialty certifications without a minimum of two years experience in your area of expertise, and it needs to be full time experience. Here is a link to the NCC. It gives you the criteria you have to meet to be able to sit for the exam (for RNC-NICU, or RNC-LRN), which costs anywhere from 250-300 dollars, depending on wether you take it online or paper/pencil. Good luck on the job hunt!! :)

I agree...don't go getting NRP until you are employed, you need a little background to understand and honestly, it will not get a job over someone else as that is usually included in your orientation. For RNC you have to already be working and have 2 years experience.
