NP schools in NY

I'd like to start applying to family/adult health NP programs in NY. My questions regarding school & programs:

1.) should i consider a private over a public school in order to get the best education and clinical experience?

2.) can you recommend any schools in NY (city or long island) that carry a positive reputation?

3.) some schools require GRE's (i.e. Columbia & PACE), should i take it? warning: i'm a poor standardized test taker...kaplan would be my best friend.

4.) how competitive is it to get into NY schools?

5.) Lastly, what is the salary range for NP's in NY?

thank u to anyone who takes the time in answering one or all of my questions!

I have been looking into schools myself, and to tell you the truth if you looking into FNP or adult, I would attend one of the SUNY programs like Downstate or Stonybrook, you will save yourself a lot of money. I think Hunter also has the program. The only school I found that wanted GRE was Columbia, but I think its way too expensive being that you have other much less expensive alternatives. The only reason why I am looking into NYU and not any SUNY school is because I want to do Acute Care, which only NYU and Columbia have. As far as getting in being competitive, I am not sure, I guess it depends on the program, how much experience you have and your grades. Each school should be able to tell you if you are competitive or not if you speak with someone there. The salary range I really don't know, I tried looking up jobs in the NYC area recently and there weren't many, but I think that has to do more with hospitals not hiring at this time. Eventually by the time I am out of school, there will be jobs I am hoping. Sorry I can't be of more help, but good luck!
