Jan 19, 20215 yr I'm not sure if a forum has already been started for applicants for the September 2021 intake but I'm here to kick it off. Is anyone else biting their nails hoping for an interview with UBC or UVIC?
Mar 25, 20215 yr Author Finally some action! LOL, was this a change from “Recommended by department???”
Mar 25, 20215 yr Yes, my status changed to "recommended by department" about the same time everyone else's did (around a week ago) and changed again today to "provisionally admitted".
Mar 26, 20215 yr Author Please tell me the first letter of your last name so I can peacefully rationalize why I have yet to receive the same...LOL ...if it's a Z I'm going to puke.
Mar 26, 20215 yr Congratulations, @LTRN08 and @ptRN28! @raymondjay06 I confirmed with UVIC Faculty of Graduate Studies that 'Recommended by Department' means the department wants to offer you a seat. Then this goes to the Faculty of Graduate studies to process remaining paperwork before sending out the official 'provisional acceptance letter'. This paperwork process takes about 1-2weeks from when your department has recommended you. In this letter, you will find information such as send over the final transcript or proof of certificate etc. So, 'Recommended by Department' can be seen as 'pre-provisional acceptance' :)
Mar 26, 20215 yr Author @light1027 Amazing. Thank you for clarifying and easing my mind. I did apply a bit later so it makes sense. Congrats to those who have heard back and for everyone's input and cofnroctuin. What a roller coaster!
Mar 26, 20215 yr What do you guys think about UVIC being heavily “teach yourself” ? Has anyone else heard this?
Mar 30, 20215 yr @raymondjay06 mine also chanced to provisionally accepted. They confirmed that we should have a official letter in email by tomorrow at the latest. hello to all UVIC cohort and good luck to those still awaiting!
Mar 31, 20215 yr Hi guys, does anyone know the acceptance deadline for uvic? Waiting to hear from some other programs still...
Mar 31, 20215 yr Author @Nayj I only know two people that have taken this program, one was 3 years ago and the other is in it now; they both report an exorbitant amount information and much of it is self-directed learning, which makes me very sad haha. However, from what I understand, UVIC will provide so much preparation for the ONC’s, and as the highest passing rate for them. I think that banding the Vancouver/Lowe mainland residents in the 2021 cohort together to help offset the workload would be essential.
