NP doing housecalls

Published

Hello,

I passed my FNP boards a year ago and have been working as a home Health RN. I have been offered a position to do house calls as an NP and work under the direction of a physician but primarily be alone in the field. Anyone have a similar experience of doing a house call job as a new NP? Please share!

Thank you

Hi, I just started getting experience with CCS where the NP's are sent to homes to do a head to toe physical and verify illnesses or safety issues. We also can order case management if needed. I just finished the "on-boarding" process and I start next week seeing patients. The money seems good ($100/pt) and it's experience. I spoke to local APRNs and a few said they started off this way too. I am still looking for my desired position as an FNP in a clinic.

I do know here in RI you have to work as NP a minimum of 8hrs/week to keep NP license.

Good luck!!

Thank you so much for the reply! I live in Virginia and I think there are ways to keep your license if you are not working fulltime. I have done Home health as an RN but I know it's different when going in as an NP- especially when we need to orders labs or diagnostic testing. I'm relieved to know that you started out this way too!
