I have had nothing but problems with a new contract I recently started.I was working per diem as a local for a well known national for profit facility starting with a "K". Than I started a 13wk contract. The acute care facility itself I love working in, get along great with peers, always get good reviews from charge nurses, pts have nothing but positive things to say about their time under my care. The problems though are with my agency. The recruiter (let's call him dip *hit) is just a step above a used car salesman. It was not communicated by dip *hit about the 3 days I could not work each week d/t another obligation. Dip *hit says well I have a super memory and didn't ever have any days beyond the 1st 2 wks scheduled dates you couldn't work. He obviously neglected to hear when I said that this schedule would repeat itself every 2wks and did he want a copy of exact dates? No, no I'll make sure the "K" staffers are aware, says Dip *hit. So the schedule comes out for the full 12 week assignment and only 2 shifts I can actually work. ***. Dip *hit claims innocence and says I'm pretty much SOL and on my own. The agency office manager says she will take care of it, I give her every exact date I cannot work and am told she'll work on it.Well good news... I get a call and am told that the agency has someone who can cover my shift I'm not available to work this week. Super for them but what about me and my pay?The most ironic thing is that I didn't even SIGN a contract. I do not have a physical contract. Is this normal?

It's a shame you are going through this, but I'm afraid that without a written contract stating the shifts you can and can't work, accepted by the hospital, you don't have any recourse here.
I know it's not what you would want to hear but if it isn't written it isn't in your contract.
