Hello Everyone,
I'm an RPN/LPN student in Ontario just finishingup first semester.
Alittle Background about me, I was born with C.P and walk with a slight limp. I have always wanted to become a nurse so I decided to go for it. I got cleared by my doctor before the program started. While I was in the program, I learned that my license can be restricted or even taken away if I'm not deemed Fit enough by a "fitness nursing committee. So I'm like super worried if I should continue this career path or not.
I have been in clinical placement (nursing home) and passed all the requirements by doing all my ADL's. Feeding, bathing, and dressing clients etc but I don't if I will be accepted in a workplace and most importantly keep my license if they see I have a physical disability.
Any input is appreciated:)

So I have never been asked to pass a physical test in nursing....other than I am expected to meet the job description. Only you can decide what you are capable of....either way is OK. The good thing about nursing though is that there are SO many options! If you last for a year on a regular floor and feel like it’s too much wear and tear on your body, then move on to something that’s easier for you. Bedside nursing jobs that are less physically demanding.....PACU, NICU, nursery, etc. Non-bedside nursing jobs (that may require a higher level of education) include quality, nursing education, audits, case management, etc.

I say if you want to be a nurse, then be a nurse. I know a doctor who uses an electric wheelchair to do his rounds.
