Hey! My name is Anne and this is my first post here! Anyway, I'm in college as a nursing intent student. Over the winter break, I submitted the application for the program and I kinda felt like I won't get in since my GPA isn't the highest and because it's really competitive as you may know A few days ago, I got the rejection letter. Even though it was kinda expected, I still feel a little bummed out about it. I also applied for the social work program which I probably will get into but still. I know I can reapply next year and for the second degree program if it has to come down to that. I was feeling really upset this whole week and I just really want to be a nurse. And I just wanna know if I'm not alone

You are DEFINITELY not alone! I am applying to four different schools in hopes of getting into one of them. I'm so nervous! So you are absolutely not alone. haha.

Hi Anne! Don't be discouraged by the rejection letter. I have a few friends that did not have the best GPA but ended up getting into a program. One friend of mine was rejected but as she waited for the next year application to roll around she volunteered and even attended a short CNA course to work in the hospital. She did all this to do anything she could to not only gain some type of experience but also to reveal she was still interested in the Nursing field and used her time wisely. Was there any comments in the letter that emphasized an area you lacked in? Maybe you can talk to someone at the school on how to become a stronger applicant for the next year. I do not think you are alone, and although this is a temporary set back it is just that--temporary. Keep working towards your goal I think that you will be ok. Good luck!
the rejection letter was purely formal... no mentioning of what i lacked in, though i know it was my gpa.. im thinking of retaking microbiology (since that pre req had the lowest grade) next fall and reapplying then. its just disappointing, you know?

Have you considered broadening your horizons? Apply to more than one school next time. Re-take classes if you need to. Look over the requirements for each program carefully and make sure you meet or exceed their expectations. Also, try to apply for programs with a more holistic selection process. I am part of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center 2nd degree BSN program in Dallas. They select applicants based on a wide variety of factors such as employment history, volunteer experience, etc. You are not alone. If being a nurse is what you really want and you have the academic prowess, you'll figure it out! Good luck to you.
