I am fairly new to the VHA system, I've just completed my first trip around the sun and am awaiting this next year to fly by so I can be off of "probation". I made the decision to finish out my nursing education degree and have applied to a DNP- no concentration program at a local public university. My plan was to just pay for the four semesters out of pocket as a DNP does not grant a salary increase (I am already Nurse 3). I am dual certified in FNP and PMHNP, currently working with the mental health service line within the VHA.
I stumbled on a PDF after doing a Google search about possible scholarship programs within the VA. Our HR is pretty spread out here as many are doing telework so I haven't gotten a straight answer about the program itself. I'm wondering if the program will even pay for a DNP so I figured I'd ask here so I can find out if I'm wasting my time.
